The newly created role of Editor-in-Residence will enhance the editorial services within the Faber Writing Academy, teaching students the ins and outs of being edited at a leading publishing company.
The Editor-in-Residence will also oversee the production of the Faber Writing Anthology, the biannual volume of student work available to publishers and agents in Australia and the United Kingdom. In 2023, there will be dedicated nonfiction and fiction versions of the anthology for the first time
Ellen O’Brien is a Garigal/Walkeloa writer living on Gadigal land. She is the 2022 Program Officer for The Writing Zone and a junior editor at the Sydney Review of Books. She has had prose and poetry published in Sydney Review of Books, Meanjin, Overland, Rabbit, Cordite and un Magazine and was previously a facilitator for the Feminist Killjoys Reading Group.
Ellen, who begins in the role on October 17, says “I can’t wait to get stuck into work with Faber Writing Academy. I’m particularly excited to support emerging writers in refining their work through the editing process, and to learn from the knowledgable staff of Faber Writing Academy and Allen & Unwin.”
