The Faber Writing Anthology

The Faber Writing Anthology is a professionally edited showcase of student’s writing that is distributed to publishers and agents in Australia and the United Kingdom.

The Faber Writing Anthology is a professionally edited showcase of student’s work that is distributed to agents and publishers in Australia and the United Kingdom. Participants in our intensive courses are invited to contribute.

Under the management of Ellen O’Brien, Faber Writing Academy’s Editor-in-Residence, we now produce the Anthology in three volumes.

The two Fiction editions include the work from students who complete Writing a Novel in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Online. The pieces traverse genres and styles, from commercial fiction to literary fiction, psychological thriller to fantasy, science fiction to historical fiction, and verse to young adult writing.

The Nonfiction edition includes the work from students who complete Writing True Stories, Writing Creative Nonfiction, Writing the Narrative Nonfiction Book and Writing About Culture. This edition contains vibrant memoirs, potential essay collections, and works of engaged reportage.

As well as presenting writing that has been polished and refined through study, workshopping and professional editing, the Anthology serves as a directory of emerging writers, facilitating direct communication between Faber Writing Academy alumni and agents and publishers who are interested in their work.

Newly published novelist and Faber alumni Magdalena McGuire wrote: ‘This anthology gets sent to key people in the publishing industry and – here’s the thing – they actually read it! It turns out that the anthology really is a big deal.’ Read her reflection here.
