Beginning to write nonfiction

Start to Write: Memoir and Nonfiction with Patti Miller
Do you have a true story to tell? Is it your story, or the story of someone else? This course introduces the fundamentals of writing nonfiction, provide the tools you’ll need to get started and shares problem-solving ideas.
Online, 3 evening sessions, 6.30-8.30pm, 15-17 November 2022

Writing a Life with Arnold Zable
Arnold Zable’s 6-week program explores the most imaginative and engaging ways to structure and write a life’s story. It will include writing exercises, feedback, mini-talks, and question and answer sessions.

Kickstart Your Memoir with Dr Lee Kofman
This course if for those who have you always wanted to write a memoir, but haven’t been sure where to start. This course will kickstart your narrative momentum, so that you can really get stuck into the memoir you have been dreaming of writing

Intensive writing nonfiction courses

Writing True Stories: Crafting Memoir and Narrative Nonfiction with Patti Miller
This intensive course is for writers, or intending writers, who wish to concentrate on crafting memoir or narrative non-fiction. A practical craft-based course, featuring readings, discussion and exercises, and the opportunity to develop several chapters under expert guidance.
Sydney, 16 sessions, 10am – 1pm, 3 February – 2 June 2022

The Book Proposal with Rebecca Giggs
Nonfiction can, in many cases, be sold to a publisher off the strength of a book proposal and a set of sample chapters. In this intensive, practical program you will be taught the essentials of putting together a solid working document to show to agents and publishers as a ‘proof of concept.’
Online, 3 x Saturday sessions (10am – 3pm) and  6 x evening sessions (6.30 – 8.30pm),

Writing Narrative Nonfiction: Finish Your Draft with Deborah Robertson
This exciting new course will assist aspiring and emerging writers to go the distance in completing a full manuscript draft in a supportive environment. Looking critically at a wide range of forms and subjects in narrative nonfiction – from memoir, biography, journalism, right through to exciting new experimental approaches – you will find the focus and drive to finish your manuscript with a group of fellow writers and a great tutor to keep you on track.
