Dr Lisa Fuller is a Wuilli Wuilli woman from Eidsvold Queensland, also descended from Wakka Wakka and Gooreng Gooreng peoples. She’s lived on Ngunnawal and Ngambri lands (Canberra) since 2006 where she works at the University of Canberra as Lecturer in Indigenous Studies. Lisa has won several awards, the first of which was the 2017 David Unaipon Award for an Unpublished Indigenous Writer and the latest is a 2023 Varuna Fellowship. Her debut novel, Ghost Bird, also received several awards, including the 2020 ACT Book of the Year, the 2020 Queensland Literary Awards, and the 2020 Readings Young Adult Book Prize. She has essays, short stories and poetry published across various publications. Lisa wears many hats including academic, researcher, freelance writer/editor and literary agent. Her research interests engage with culture, creativity and positionality. Her latest book, big big love, is a children’s picture book with Samantha Campbell released in 2024, and her upcoming title, Washpool, is a middle-grade fantasy due for release on 26 February 2025.
