We are thrilled to be offering a scholarship place for our new Writing a Speculative Fiction Novel course (already booked out!) and to have our first recipient based in Aotearoa/New Zealand. Writing the Narrative Nonfiction Book
Anna Carlsson is a writer born in South Korea, but now lives on Wurundjeri land. She has a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Politics and a Graduate Diploma of Writing and Publishing. She currently works in-house as an assistant editor but is excited to dedicate time to writing of her own.
Chelsea Chong
Writing a Speculative Fiction Novel
Chelsea Chong lives on the Sunshine Coast, with her husband and two fiery young daughters. She works as a freelance grant writer and holds a Master’s in International Development. Her short stories have appeared in Australia’s MindFOOD magazine, The Bristol Short Story Prize Anthology Vol.13 and Five on the Fifth.
Amanda Maxwell
Writing a Novel (Daytime) – Melbourne
Amanda Maxwell’s short stories have appeared in journals and magazines in Australia and overseas. She has published two short story collections and has read at Melbourne and Sydney Writers Festivals. Amanda grew up in Aotearoa/New Zealand and now lives on Wadawurrung Country in Torquay. She is working on her first novel.

Zoë Meager is from Aotearoa New Zealand. Her work has appeared in Cheap Pop, Ellipsis Zine, Granta, Hue and Cry, Landfall, Lost Balloon, Mascara Literary Review, Mayhem, Meniscus, North & South, Overland, Splonk, and Turbine | Kapohau, among others. She is a 2024 Sargeson Fellow.
Joseph Falsone
Writing a Novel (Daytime) – Sydney
Joseph Falsone is a Sydney-born writer of Sicilian descent living on Ngunnawal/Ngambri Country, Canberra. An experienced cultural leader, arts writer and social researcher, he resigned from his role as an arts centre director in 2022 to become the primary carer for his two young children and write. Joseph is currently drafting his first novel.
