Jane Godwin is the highly acclaimed author of over thirty books for children, across all styles and ages. Her work is published internationally and she has received many commendations, including the Queensland Premier’s Award (Children’s Books), the Aurealis Award and the Animal Welfare Award, and shortlistings in the CBCA Book of the Year Awards, the Prime Minister’s Literary Award, the New South Wales State Literary Award (Patricia Wrightson Prize), the YABBA Awards, the Speech Pathology Awards, The Family Award for Children’s Books, and the Australian Book Industry Awards.
For over a decade, Jane was the children’s book publisher at Penguin Australia, where she worked with many leading children’s writers and illustrators. She continues to work as a consultant publisher.
Jane’s most recent novel is When Rain Turns to Snow (Hachette, July 2020), and her most recent children’s picture books are Don’t Forget (Penguin, April 2021), illustrated by Anna Walker, and Arno and his Horse, (Scribble, May 2021) illustrated by Felicita Sala.
Jane spends as much time as she can working with young people, running various literature and writing programs, making books and encouraging students in their own creative ventures. She is dedicated to pursuing quality and enriching reading and writing experiences for both children and adults, whether it’s as a writer, a publisher or a speaker/facilitator in schools or the broader community
