Intimate relationships are the centre of so many of the stories we wish to tell. How do we make connections – figurative and physical – between characters realistic? In this exciting short course, you’ll focus on the ins and outs of writing romance, developing your skills in crafting characters and scenes.

Over three consecutive weeks, you will have the opportunity to work with acclaimed author Maame Blue, as she delivers practical advice for writing romantic relationships, to ensure readers fall in love with your characters and story.

Romance is a booming genre of writing, ever popular with readers across the world. It can be commercial in nature and call on a huge literary history and legacy. There are just as many conventions as in other genres, as well as rules that can be broken too.

This course will give you a toolkit for writing desire, courtship, and fulfillment – and will look into where things can go wrong, for writer and romance alike. Your classes will be filled with practical examples and writing exercises to help light the spark of your romantic plot.
