Mid-year course and scholarship information session

w/ Rebecca Giggs, Eleanor Limprecht, Luke Horton, Kirsten Tranter, Mandy Beaumont, J.S. Breukelaar, and Sarah Day

In this special free interactive information session, join our tutors from around the country as they discuss what to expect from their courses and how to best prepare your scholarship application.

Monday, 11 May, 6:30pm – 7:30pm (AEST)

FREE

For one night only, join authors and tutors Rebecca Giggs (Writing a Creative Nonfiction Book), Eleanor Limprecht (Writing a Novel (Daytime) Sydney), Luke Horton (Writing a Novel (Daytime) Melbourne), Kirsten Tranter (Writing a Novel Online), Mandy Beaumont (Writing a Crime Novel), J.S. Breukelaar (Writing Speculative Fiction) and Sarah Day (Writing a Poetry Collection) as they talk about their courses, exploring topics covered and the guest speakers you might encounter, how the Faber Writing Anthology leads students to success, and how they will help you get as close as possible to finishing a draft of your manuscript across the year.

This round, we are introducing a new partial scholarship (25% off the full course price) for “under-represented voices”, in addition to our full scholarship. Both scholarships are merit-based and are available in each of the seven programs currently open to application. Those people who are not awarded a scholarship, but who have been offered a paid place, will be eligible for our early bird discount, a saving of $500 on course payments made in full.

Faber Writing Academy manager Pip Smith will outline the two scholarships available for each program and the details of the early bird offer, following which the tutors will talk you through putting together a compelling application: how to grab their attention and make your project sing and what you should focus on in telling us why this is a story, or a collection, only you can write. Together, they will talk about how much time you might need to put aside to write outside of class, and the bonds that develop between students, often leading to the formation of lifelong writing groups.

This is an extremely rare opportunity to spend an hour with seven of Australia’s most exciting writers and brilliant teachers. Come prepared with questions you’ve long wanted to ask about studying writing! Places are free.
