Join a dedicated group of eight writers over six months as you work toward refining the next draft of your novel. Each fortnight, you’ll submit newly written or revised material for constructive feedback from both the group and your tutor. Between sessions, you’ll have access to our zoom channel for a “shut up and write” session with your peers, where you can write material for your next workshop session and maximize the value of the bi-weekly workshops.
At the heart of this course is thorough, thoughtful, and supportive feedback provided by a skilled tutor. You won’t be diving into the basics of writing dialogue or exploring set texts—you already have a solid grasp of fiction writing. Instead, the focus will be on answering the tougher questions like, “Does this section work?”, “What should I keep or cut?”, and “How can I make this even stronger?” Together, we’ll work towards your goal of completing a polished draft.
This advanced course is for graduates of Writing a Novel.
By the end of the course you will have:
- Had your work critiqued by your tutor at least one a month, to a total of 12,000 words.
- Had your work critiqued by your peers once a fortnight, to a total of 24,000 words.
- Received constructive and rigorous feedback on your writing, so that you can measure your improvement.
Your course includes:
- A complimentary copy of a recent A&U publication
- On completion of the course, alumni discounts on future Faber Writing Academy courses and books from the Allen & Unwin website.
If you’re feeling stuck and need help moving forward, or if you’re looking for regular feedback and encouragement from peers who truly understand your novel’s vision, this is the course for you.
