This is an opportunity for people who have an idea for a novel, or a novel in its early stages, to come along to share and develop ideas.

Do you have a great idea for a novel (or short story collection) but don’t know where to begin? Maybe you’re stuck in the middle of a writing project and are unsure how to proceed?

This intensive course will help you to take your writing to the next level. You’ll learn ways of keeping motivated and planning tools to assist with structure and plotting. Tailored writing exercises will help you to discover your true writing voice. Sharing your ideas and writing with others will guide you forward so you can read your work like a reader.

You’ll learn how to shape your story, the importance of research, how to create believable characters, how to write effective dialogue and useful techniques for editing and refining your writing.

By the end of the course you should have more confidence in your writing project and a plan to push on to completion.

The workshop includes:

  • One personalised consultation with the tutor on your project
  • Three full days of intensive tuition from 10am to 4pm on each Saturday
  • Lunch and refreshments
  • A complimentary copy of an A&U publication
  • A 10% discount on full-priced books purchased at any Readings shop – the official bookseller for the Academy (not valid for online purchases, other offers, lay-bys or special orders)
  • On completion of the course, alumni discounts on future Faber Writing Academy courses and books from the Allen & Unwin website.

This workshop is strictly limited to 10 people. Book soon to avoid disappointment.
