In this one-day course, you will learn the essentials for writing engaging and authentic nonfiction. Whether you’re planning to write first-person memoir or researched reportage, this course will help you find the best way to present your facts. Learn from someone who has successfully written in both modes.
Literary journalist, travel writer and lecturer Dr Tom Doig will lead you through the process of coming up with a promising concept; share research tips and techniques, from interviewing to immersive adventures; and, show what is required to take a project through to completion. With examples of fine creative nonfiction from around the world, this program will teach you what you need to make your writing really work on the page and give audiences what they are looking for.
This program is suitable for both emerging and established writers

• A full day's intensive tuition from 10am - 4pm

About the tutor
Dr Tom Doig is a literary journalist and travel writer. He has written a Mongolian cycling book, Mörön to Mörön: two men, two bikes, one Mongolian misadventure (Allen & Unwin, 2013 ), and two books of narrative journalism about the 2014 Hazelwood mine fire disaster, The Coal Face (Penguin, 2015) and Hazelwood (Penguin Random House, Forthcoming). He teaches creative nonfiction at the University of Melbourne.
