with Miles Franklin Award-winning author Sofie Laguna

East Melbourne Library
122 George St
East Melbourne VIC 3002

Course fee: $295 / $250 alumni

This one-day workshop for aspiring writers is led by Miles Franklin award-winning writer, Sofie Laguna. Fiction Writing will explore the different ways characters hold the keys to plot, theme, tone and structure. Workshop participants will create new characters that can sustain a narrative, and make the work of writing passionate and meaningful. Sofie will encourage participants to consider the detail and dialogue in their work, in order to both ground their fiction, and bring it to life. Participants will be asked to do plenty of writing, in response to the exercises set, and to share their work with the group. Expect to come away from the workshop feeling encouraged and excited and ready to write. Sofie Laguna trained and worked as an actor for many years before writing books so her writing workshops are lively, dynamic and challenging.

The workshop includes:

• A full day of intensive tuition from 10 am to 4 pm
• Lunch and refreshments
• A 10% discount on full-priced books purchased at any Readings shop – the official bookseller for the Academy (not valid for online purchases, other offers, lay-bys or special orders)
• On completion of the course, alumni discounts on future Faber Writing Academy courses and books from the Allen & Unwin website.

This workshop is strictly limited in size. Book soon to avoid disappointment.
